Join Us at Camp: Volunteer Roles

At For The Children, Royal Family KIDS Camp, we believe in the power of community and the life-changing impact of our volunteers. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to the camp experience, we offer a variety of roles that allow you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children from foster care. From serving as a Big Camper to assisting with creative activities, there's a role for everyone. By joining our dedicated team of volunteers, you'll be helping create lasting memories, foster unconditional love, and provide healing experiences that will stay with these children for a lifetime.

Big Campers (Camp Counselors)

  • As a Big Camper, you will be a direct mentor to two children throughout the week. You’ll guide them through daily activities, provide emotional support, and create a positive, welcoming environment for them. You’ll help set up the camp, decorate the rooms, and welcome the children on the first day, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and ready for camp.

    • Mentor two children and provide care and attention throughout the week.

    • Lead children in daily activities such as games, arts & crafts, and Bible lessons.

    • Help with camp setup and welcome the children as they arrive.

    • Create lasting memories and positive experiences for your campers.

    • Work alongside other volunteers to ensure the success of camp.

Curriculum Team

  • The Curriculum Team plays a key role in shaping the educational experience at camp. You’ll be responsible for teaching Bible lessons, music, and leading drama or puppet performances. This team is integral in guiding children through moral and spiritual teachings while engaging them in creative, fun activities.

    • Lead Bible lessons and facilitate group discussions.

    • Lead music sessions, teaching songs that are meaningful and engaging.

    • Help with drama and puppetry performances that align with the camp’s themes.

    • Create a fun and engaging environment for learning.

    • Work closely with the Activities Team to ensure curriculum activities are well-integrated.

Junior Big Campers (16+ years)

  • Junior Big Campers assist Big Campers in their responsibilities while participating in camp activities. As a Junior Big Camper, you’ll be part of a team that works with children and helps create an engaging, fun-filled week. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow by helping in leadership activities like drama, music, and play.

    • Assist Big Campers with the care and activities of the children.

    • Participate in stage dramas and puppetry skits that are part of the curriculum.

    • Help facilitate games, crafts, and outdoor activities.

    • Act as a positive role model for younger campers.

    • Contribute to the overall camp experience through participation and support.

Care Team

  • The Care Team is focused on providing the emotional and physical support children need throughout camp. This team includes camp nurses, deans, grandpa and grandma figures, and encouragers who offer additional guidance and comfort during the week. Your role is to ensure each child feels safe, supported, and loved.

    • Provide emotional support and guidance to children during camp activities.

    • Serve as a mentor and role model for campers, offering encouragement and understanding.

    • Ensure that children’s physical needs are met, including health and well-being.

    • Be a calming presence and provide reassurance when necessary.

    • Serve as a trusted adult figure in the camp environment.

Activities Team

    • The Activities Team is responsible for leading fun and engaging activities that help campers build skills, connect with others, and enjoy themselves. Activities can include arts & crafts, woodworking, coaching sports, or hosting special events like tea parties. Volunteers in this team are creative, enthusiastic, and ready to make a difference.

    • Lead arts & crafts, sports, and other activity-based programs.

    • Coordinate with the Curriculum and Care Teams to ensure activities complement the camp’s educational goals.

    • Support children in developing new skills and building confidence through hands-on activities.

    • Help maintain a fun, positive, and safe environment for campers.

Logistics Team

    • The Logistics Team ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From setting up camp and the sound system to coordinating the movement of people and resources, this team plays a critical role in ensuring the camp functions seamlessly.

    • Assist with the setup of camp, including preparing rooms, areas for activities, and the general camp environment.

    • Help with sound system setup, technology coordination, and movement logistics.

    • Ensure campers are safely transported and manage the movement of people during camp.

    • Coordinate with other teams to make sure everything is in place for each day’s activities.

    • Help with the breakdown and clean-up after camp.

Camp Support Roles

These roles play a crucial part in ensuring the camp runs smoothly, but they don't require a full week at camp. Instead, they focus on supporting the camp’s preparation, organization, and behind-the-scenes needs. By volunteering for one of these roles, you’ll help make camp possible and provide essential support to the camp experience, all without committing to the entire week at camp.

  • Assist with multiple training meetings leading up to camp. Responsibilities include helping with room décor, food preparations, and serving during pre-camp events.

  • Be there on the first day of camp to help greet campers and their families. You'll assist with check-ins, loading luggage, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly as the children arrive.

  • Join our prayer team to pray for volunteers, campers, and their families throughout the lead-up to and duration of the camp. Your prayers will provide vital spiritual support for all involved.

  • Lend your creativity to decorate and set up special areas of the camp according to the camp’s theme and curriculum. Help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for the camp experience.
